Nancy Field-Bruce, Practice Manager
Nancy has always enjoyed working with animals in one way or another. She had her own rescue group in California and worked with her husband in his mixed animal practice. When he retired in 2013, he wanted to come back to Colorado where he grew up. Nancy loves working in the front office at Berthoud Animal Hospital. It gives her a chance to set the tone for the client and patient and help the doctors and staff and make their day easier. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and her pets, reading and quilting.
Patty Cowell, Lead Certified Veterinary Technician
Patty graduated from Bel-Rae Institute of Animal Technology in 1991 and began working for Berthoud Animal Hospital in November of 1991. She belongs to the CACVT. What Patty loves most about her job is assisting with orthopedic surgeries. She finds it very rewarding working as a team to help sick pets with diagnosis and treatment. Their owners are so grateful as their pets are members of their families. Patty is number six in a family of seven children and was raised in Arizona. She moved to Colorado in 1986. Patty has two grown sons, four grandchildren, three horses, a dog and a cat. She enjoys training and trail riding her horses, weaving, spinning wool, stained glass and reading.
Kristie McFarland, Veterinary Technician
Kristie moved from Missouri to Colorado for a change of scenery and to get back to what she loves- working in a small animal hospital. She has worked in many aspects of animal care since receiving her Bachelors in Science (Biology). She loves being able to help patients sustain long and healthy lives. She also enjoys being part of a team that strives to be on the cutting edge of medicine. She shares her home with her husband Jason, two dogs (Packy, a cocker spaniel and Cici, a Beagle), a cat named Emma Jean and guinea pigs named Henny Penny and Axel. She plans on working towards obtaining her veterinary technician's certification this upcoming year.
Cinthia Payan, Veterinary Assistant
Cinthia is originally from Chihuahua, Mexico and has always had a passion for helping animals. She graduated from Front Range Community College as an AVA and started working at Berthoud Animal Hospital in April of 2014. During her free time, Cinthia enjoys spending time with her daughter, Izel, and all of her farm animals.
Lacey Clay, Veterinary Assistant
As long as she can remember Lacey has been passionate about animals. She started out in the medical field with a medical assisting degree. Although she enjoyed the work she always felt she was missing out when not working with animals. She went on to receive her CVA from Penn Foster and began interning at Berthoud Animal Hospital in April. She was officially hired in June of 2016. In her free time she enjoys yoga, drawing, painting and spending time with her miniature dachshund Bosco.
